When I first heard that Beautycounter was a "B Corporation" my first thought was, "Beautycounter is such an amazing company they will be an A soon!" Then I did my research and found out what being a B Corporation really meant. Here is the definition from the source:
Certified B Corporations are leaders in the global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy. Unlike other certifications for businesses, B Lab is unique in our ability to measure a company’s entire social and environmental impact.
That means to earn this status a company has to go well above and beyond by putting people and planet above profits and in turn using their products and practices to better the world. Also, it isn't just a one and done certification has to be done every 3 years to keep a companies B Corp status. No resting on laurels here. Currently there are 5300 companies around the world who certify to be B Corporations. Some of my favorites are: Beautycounter which has been certified since 2013 and their impact score has increased each time they have been recertified. You can read more about Beautycounter's status here Then shop my personal Beautycounter website and make a change.
Other B Corporations I support are, Patagonia, TOMS, allbirds, Raven+Lily & Bombas to just name a few. The list is growing and it's wonderful to have a resource like this. If you want to feel good about your purchases start here!
